Help Phone shutting down with plenty of charge

A few days back I noticed my phone just shutdown when I had 25-30% battery. It wouldn't switch back on till I charged it again.
Since then it has gotten progressively worse, switching off at 40%, 50% and yesterday I noticed it went off at around 60%.

I thought it could be the ROM I was using, but that was fine for months. Maybe an app, I tried to figure out what could be causing the issue, but to no avail.
Last night I switched to Cyanogenmod but the issue still occurs.

Has my battery gone?

Is your battery swollen, or bulging a bit ? Put it on flat surface and try to give it a spin. If it spins, then the battery is damaged. There is a batch of S4s with faulty battery, and from what I read, Samsung replace them without much challenge.

re install rom .. do a complete wipe, if that fails get a new battery or vice versa

Cheers mate. That was the issue, battery was swollen.
Took it to Samsung and got it replaced without any issues.
Seems like the Made in China batch is faulty. Korean, Japanese ones are fine

I'm really glad to hear it was just a battery, rather than some other hardware problem. And that you managed to get it replaced with ease
