Help Phone shutting off after small drop?

Need some testing from anyone willing to try. Hold your phone screen up and drop it just an inch or two on a desk or table. Does it shut off? Having this problem with mine. Shuts off with the slightest impact. Not a good sigh I would think.

Just tested, mine does not. Also a few days ago my phone was nocked off of a table(5 ft) and it didn't shut off. I think if I were you I would look into getting a warranty replacement. If it really is that easy to cause you should have no issue demonstrating it to the people at VZW for a warranty replacement. I'm betting yours is defective unless a whole bunch of other people say they have the same problem and I'm just the exception.

I'm thinking its not widespread or I would have heard someone else with the problem. My problem is I replaced one already for a bad ear piece and I'm not fond of refurbs. I've only had the phone for 10 days you would think I could get a new one.

Take it to the corporate Verizon store in Kokomo and be considerate, yet assertive, about the issue and have it replaced.

I have the same issue. At first I thought it might be a safety feature, although I would have no rationale for that thought. Did you manage to successfully replace the phone?s

I am having the same problem with my Galaxy Nexus. A short drop of less then 2 inches and the phone shuts down. I have had a string of bad phones from Verizon. I am currently on my 5th Galaxy Nexus. Phones 3 and 5 have had this problem. The phone will even shut down in my pocket. I have the phone in a Seidio Convert Case and that a should absorb some of the shock but the phone still shuts off.

It is at the point everytime I take the phone out of my pocket I have to turn it on.

it's the battery disconnecting? Or so I've heard before. Never had this issue, but never dropped my phone.

What battery are you using?

I believe the battery is disconnecting. It happens with the slim extended and standard. Both have the proper backs on them when installed

Can confirm this isn't normal... I once fell asleep on my loft bed holding my phone, a mistake I don't plan on making again. It fell down the side of it, smacked off the frame and probably the edge of the drawers underneath, then finally came to a rest behind the drawers (not a scratch, luckily, though a small, insignificant one has developed since). Still on, though.

my nexus one has started to shut down without being dropped. the only 2 ways to reboot it is by removing and replacing the battery or by plugging the charger in. Can anyone help on this ??
