Help Phone slowdown after internet link?

Thats a good example mate. Prety clever of them using a fake update to get us to install it. I doubt if id click it but a lot of people would

Glad clearing your cache worked. That said, however, it is possible for an Android device to get a virus. See the following link for a current, relevant example (security report):
Stels Android Trojan Malware Analysis | Dell SecureWorks
Just wanted to make sure there's no disinformation out there. A false sense of security is bad.

That said, you are safe if you've disabled installation of non-Marketplace apps, but a lot of us have turned that off so we can install stuff from the Amazon appstore. Turning it on after you've been infected is too late, btw.

That's not a virus at all.
computer virus (a software program capable of reproducing itself and usually capable of causing great harm to files or other programs on the same computer) "a true virus cannot spread to another computer without human assistance"

Basically, a virus can get in without a user having any knowledge of the infection.

That is however malware, which is known to exist on android. If you avoid directly downloading .apks, you are highly unlikely to get any malware.

yeap i only install from the market and only after reviewing the permissions and comments from other people
thanks everyone. The slowdown is mainly while connecting to the wifi so maybe its not the phone.
