Phone Specific ICS Updates

I'm new to the Android universe and have a question. When are we getting the 4.0.3 update??!?!?!?!

j/k

My understanding is that 4.0.3 has been available for some time on other devices and "unofficially" available for the GNex if you install a custom rom.

Does that mean that 4.0.3 is done? Is version 4.0.3 on the Galaxy S II the same as version 4.0.3 on the GNex? Could 4.0.3 on the GNex contain bug fixes, enhancements, features that are not available on current versions of 4.0.3?

I'm using 4.0.3 in my examples, but how does this generally work?

Well generally updates do fix bugs, enhance certain features and enable new things that they find would be useful for the phone. they are automatically pushed to your phone unless you have a custom Kernal or something that would prevent it from doing so

1 example would be there are supposed to be some changes in the new update for us that will fix some bugs and extend our battery life. Also the spell checking, bluetooth management. Other features included Calendar provider enhancements, new camera apps enhancing video stabilization and QVGA resolution
