Root phone speed improvement for root?

Debating this and was wondering if there was a speed improvement or even a battery reduction?

Well, if you overclock the processor then yes, your phone should get a boost in speed. If you just want a faster interface, try launcher pro - it doesn't require root and it is a fast launcher.
