Root Phone Storage! What's going on

DavidG6

Newbie
Hey everyone,
So I rooted my phone awhile ago with GSB 1.6, since I've upgraded almost each update to 2.0 now. The phone is working great and smooth! Loving it.
However, my overall phone storage (according to the Storage section in Settings) a week ago was 73mb (this was after I used the cache2cache zip, and yes after every flash of GSB I flashed gapps and cache2cache) and went down to 36mb! I have probably only downloaded one or two apps since. I have moved most apps to SD and am now back to about 76mb. I'm just wondering what happened and how I suddenly dropepd from 73 to 36.
I haven't done any factory resets when upgrading though too. I would hate too unless needed, because it's annoying.
But just wondering what you all thought!

DavidG6, what happens if you go into Recovery and flash xtrcache2cache again, and then restart? (Do a Nandroid backup first, just in case.)

If you have that Nandroid in your back pocket, if that changes nothing, what happens if you wipe Dalvik cache? Does that fix it?

There is an app Diskusage: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage&feature=search_result

If you are rooted, it can show you app space. Do you have apps in there that are taking up a lot of space?

Just a note that I thought that I had the same problem - a sudden decrease in app space - a few weeks ago after an update, but I learned that it was because I had installed the Nook app, and that was taking up 17 MB(!). Perhaps you had an enormous app like that.

Also, FWIW, I believe that there is a possible issue with apps2sd and xtrcache2cache. See the OP here: [SCRIPT][1/22/2011] A Simple Cache2Cache for CM 6.x and 7.x ROMs - xda-developers

Also, you may want to ask this question there.

Also may I add that the phandroid app uses about 30mb when its running.

Think I found some of the problems. Good call with the disk storage app, it went well! It seems as though Contacts Storage is taking up a lot of space (from 14 to 17mb) but I feel like there's nothing I can do about that.
However something else I found, since moving my apps2sd I've had to re-sign into Twitter and Facebook each time I reboot my phone...even online with the browser I have to re-sign into FB. Is this normal? Did I accidentily mess with a setting?
