phone updated last night!!!!

Hi guys did anyone else get an update yesterday?I checked for updates and it said there was one so I downloaded it.The phone is deffinately more responsive, I havn't noticed any other difference yet but it was just before I went to bed so I will see today.Not sure what the update was though, does anyone know what I look at?It now says:SYSTEM VERSION - blur_version.2.51.1.MB525.T-MOBILE.en.GBFIRMWARE VERSION- 2.1-update 1KERNEL VERSION - 2.6.29I don't know what it said before so not sure what the update is? doh! I should have wrote it down before I suppose.
 
I'm assuming you're not "in the States", and you probably received the "system update" (Motorola, not Android). Given your Blur revision number, it seems that the T-Mo (USA) is running a different revision for Blur/System: 3.6.360MB525.T-Mobile.en.US.

Everything else looks to be pretty much the same.
 
Thanks Colnago.That would make sense as nothing much seems to have changed. Yep I'm not in the US I'm in the UK. Oh well I'll just have to keep checking.
 
I also got the update today, under details said something about improving performance and a few other little bits. very happy, means there still putting effort into updating the defy, it really is a brilliant phone!
 
UK Sim Free Defy, on 2.12.0 , the update check on the phone says no update avalible.

So i downloaded the Motorola software update app and it said that an update was available and it updated my defy to 2.51.1 :)
 
I just tried this update and it failed. i got the image of an android man and triangle with a power sign inside. Did a battery pull and i'm back up and running. going to attempt it again. the exact text relating to the update states;

"This optional software update provides the following enhancements: improved phone and call stability, updated Google Android applications, and improved security and phone performance." (16.2MB)

So over the air update wont work if you've removed some bloatware apps, specifically Cardock and possibly others. However if you go to the motorola support website and download the update software on a pc, it will reinstall all bloatware and allow you to get the update. Although now its not letting me re-root with z4root.

Lesson learned is, dont delete bloatware just use Titanium Pro to freeze until needed.
