phone use during charge

I have found I can't use my phone while it is charging - outlet OR USB.
Can't call out, can't use apps, none of the buttons or screen taps respond.
This is the 1st phone I've owned that reverted to a door stop while charging (although I can receive messages and notifications - I just can't open them).
Is this nnormal? If not, how do I use the phone during charging?
 
Are you using a 3rd party charger? They tend to make the screen unresponsive to touch.

Ensure you use a genuine Motorola charger (i.e. the one that came with the Atrix).

No, not normal. I use my phone, not making phone calls, when wharging. I've watched movies, answered text and e-mails, opened apps, etc. with no problem.
 
I just went through the same thing on mine, while using a 3rd party charger. It seems AT&T doesn't know the charger doesn't work correctly with our phones.

Order one or look for a branded charger. I had to order one :-\

FYI I have ordered a few of these and the only problem is the cable length. It works great but is only about 3 feet long.

I don't think your phone is working properly. My Atrix works regardless of the charger I'm using.

Yeah that's the first thing I thought when I bought my new phone (same charger came with it)... really, all this great engineering and they give us a midget cord??

You can find USB extender cords or just a good old fashioned extension cord will do the trick.

There are also other longer cords that you can buy (any microUSB cord should work)
