Phone Will Not Reboot

Gents Im absolutely miffed and hoping one of you guys can help out.....

Last Night I flashed Neat Rom Lite v1.2, Siyah, and the JKay Framework.......Everything was working fabulously so I decided to make a Back Up.

I opened an App called Rom Manager and Clicked Back Up Rom.
The phone turned itself off, I thought nothing of it then rolled over and went to sleep.

This morning my phone wont turn on. When I hold down the power button I get the large battery symbol with no green in it (Its plugged in to charge) and it just goes back to a black screen.

Ive held Volume Up Power and Home and get the same thing.

The only thing I can access is the Download Mode (Volume Down)

Have I bricked my phone, I cant see why this has happened as everything was fantastic before I tried to back it up.

Too late now I know, but never use ROM manager for backups, use CWM Recovery.

It sounds like your buggered unless you flash a ROM via Odin.
Once your back up and running you could try restoring the backup made by ROM manager, but it may well get you back in the same boat. If you have older CWM backups then you could try one of those

Man, thats pretty devastating news as I dont have the internet at home I use my GS2 as wifi...

Hawker I know I will be able to find this information in the forums but due to the fact I am in work Is there any chance (If at all possible) you could just add a few links to this page so I can quickly go through the process of reflashing via Odin......Stock ICS ROM (3UK) Odin Link etc.........

I cant download or anything like that in work but a friend has kindly offered to borrow me his Laptop for 45 minutes so If I have the links I can quickly sort it in this time.

If its too much of an ask dont worry mate I appreciate your reply.

You are a lovely human being do you know that.......Thanks a lot Hawker Paul

My Internet filtering in work will not let me access XDA or anything like that, Im lucky to get on here. But my mates laptop will allow me to access these links.

Ive been flashing for weeks and really enjoying all of Neats releases but found that Neat Rom Lite v1.2 was by far the best performaing ROM for me. So when I try and do the sensible thing like back my perfect ROM up in case something bad happens.......then something bad happens lol

Thanks a lot my friend its really appreciated

Brick is a term used very widely and inappropriately.
As long as you can get into download mode there is no need to worry.

Just remember to use CWM Recovery in future to back up your ROM.

Remember????? jesus christ Im getting a tattoo with CWM in big bold letters on my bloody forearm mate .............

Thanks again

Hawker,

Just a quick update

So Im sitting there laptop in front of me, 45 minute dinner hour. This page open......

I searched for the LPG software but the download time was taking too long from Hotfile so Im checking Samfirmwaremobile, XDA, Android forums, all the while Downloading WinRAR and Odin..........It was intense!!!

I finally found a quick download of a stock firmware
IML74K.XWLPF????? I just went for it.

I flashed it via Odin and low and behold my phone started up..........what is surprising though is that I thought flashing a new firmware via Odin would factory reset everything but when it loaded up all of my apps, photos and even my Go launcher layout with Widgets were there........I have no idea why this happend, I always thought flashing a stock would factory reset it????? Have I missed anything here?

Anyway at least I can go home and Download the relevant Root and Rom Requirements to get back to where I was most happy.

Hawker too many people come on here asking for help as I did without manners or complaining of bugs but....as you did for Sale the other day, I would like to extend that gratitude to you for taking the time to help a simple little man like me out ....Cheers Pal

No worries butty. Glad your back up and running again.
:thumb:

As for Odin/factory reset, that depends on what firmware you flash. Some are full wipes, others are not. Intratech's ROMs are a mixture. I would assume all SamMobile ROMs are full wipes.

You obviously flashed a non-wipe.

I would like to extend that gratitude to you for taking the time to help a simple little man like me out ....Cheers Pal

OMG! There'll be no dealing with him now! ;)

You just be grateful that you didn't catch him after his first bottle of White Lightning cider! :D

Seriously though, that's what this forum is all about... sharing and helping each other.

Sometimes it can be a thankless and frustrating task :banghead:

Other times, such as this I guess, very rewarding. :saint:

There's an old Scot's saying... "It's nice, to be nice".

Now I'm off to search the pubs to see if Hawker is in a good enough mood to buy me a drink... should I start my search in Lands End or John O'Groats. :hmmmm:
