Help Phone will only go to download mode.

I was using casual on my verizon note 2 sch-i605.
the process failed somewhere along the way and casual didnt restart my phone. i took the battery out because it wasn't responding to anything. i hinow het the power button and all it would do is flash the samsung galaxy note 2 screen over and over again.
i tried pressing volume up, home, power a hundred times. i've tried holding it down for a few minutes, pressing the buttons repeatedly and it wont work.
however volume down, home and power work so i can get into download mode. now here is where i run into the problems.
Odin will NOT detect my phone even though my computer does (makes the sound whenever i connect or disconnect it) and I've tried just about everything..
i have uninstalled the casual driver
i have tried multiple usb cables
i've restarted the computer
i've tried different versions of odin
i have no idea where to go from here, or what to do. I also don't have the option to try it on another computer. I'm running windows 7

I worked on this for about 6 hours yesterday and go nowhere. I'm frustrated and I have no idea what else to try.

Can you try to boot into safe mode?

To do that, simply press and hold both Volume Down and power button. When the Note II splash screen shows, release only the power button. Keep holding down the Volume Down button until it boots and you see 'Safe mode' on the bottom left side of the screen.

If it does boot into safe mode, then something must have screwed up the phone. In which case, uninstall the problem app. Or you may need to resort to a factory reset that will wipe all contents on the phone.
