Help Phone will shut off/shut on while charging via computer?

Hey guys. I have a couple of battery/charging questions.

First being, is it normal for your phone to turn off then back on while charging to a computer? While charging my phone (which btw I squeezed almost TWO full days believe it or not :eek:) via computer, at least my work one, my phone will shut off then turn on by itself and this cycles a few times as well. Doesn't matter if I start charging while on or off it will then either shut off or turn on pending on how it started charging and continue to do so until I'm charged to a specific %.

Is this normal? I haven't tried charging to my home pc yet but I would imagine it's the same right?

Next question is with the power saver setting, when the power saver goes into effect on the phone and you turn the phone back on after fully charging, is their a way for it to go back to normal settings? Meaning do you have to manually change things the way they were before the power saver went into effect? I sometimes just go into the power saver and turn it off then back on to get things back to normal after fully charging. Is there an easier way?

Seems kinda weird to have a setting go into effect and then not have it go back to normal when it's not required....:confused:
 
Have you been able to charge other cell phones on your work PC in the past?

I know where I work if you plug in a cell phone via USB, it auto shuts off the radio to prevent transmitting company data.
 
I believe that i can answer your second question. The power saving feature is constantly checking the battery status. When it dips below your specified point (say, 20%) the settings are all changed based on what you chose to do. When the phone is charging and it then dips back above 20%, i'm certain all of your original settings are restored.
When i'm using my phone and the power saving turns on and my screen goes really dim, there has never been a time where i've had to manually turn up the brightness at a later time. It just does it itself, as it should.

To answer this yes. I use to charge my Captivate at work and never did it turn on and then off by itself, EVER. I don't believe it is a security issue as well b/c my coworkers, some of which have android htc phones, don't exp this problem when charging to their work computers.

Strange b.c when I turn my phone back on after it died and then fully recharging I have to go into some apps to reactivate auto syncing and also mnlly adjst my timeout/brightness/etc. I didn't know if this is the norm or if it would revert back to normal settings once pulling out of the "power saver" % activation. I'll keep on eye on this next time.

I will try this. At home regardless of cable it does not have this issue. I think it might just be the terminal at my work. I'll try charging it with the HTC cable though. Keep you posted.

I guess it was the cable. I was using a Motorola cable for work, and now with a generic one it hasn't turned on and/or off by itself and it's close to half charged. With the Moto cable it would've done so about 6x alrdy. I'm gonna try the Moto one on my home PC to test this.

Sorry for the thread when I could've just troubleshot this myself :o
