Help phone won't boot after Android update

I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but I don't know anything about hardware stuff and I can't understand half the stuff on these threads lol...

My husband has an LG Esteem, and a couple weeks ago he got an Android update. Well it finished updating, and the phone turned off to restart, but didn't go back on. So he powered it back on, and it gets to the "LG" screen, and then turns back off, and then loads the "LG" screen, and then turns back off, and so on and so on until you take the battery out. We tried turning it on while plugged in, same thing. He said he tried to do a factory reset and it did nothing. Anyone know what might have happened and/or how it might be able to be fixed? Thanks.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what "ota update" means. He got the pop up on his phone saying that there was an update available for android.

A couple of  for you first:
Is the phone.rooted?
Was the update done by your husband or at a metro pcs store?
Did you take the insurance out on the phone?
Let me know and we can get started on a game.plan:D

Thanks :-)

No, as far as I know, the phone is not rooted (if I understand correctly what rooting means lol)

He just clicked the button on the pop up to install the update, and the phone did it itself and then shut off.

No insurance, the saleswoman didn't even offer it to us :-/

LOL
Not sure what you mean about "pop-up window"..on the phone itself or when he was using the LG support update tool to update the phone to the newest version. As far as I was aware of there is no OTA(over the air) updates with our esteems.

Shame on them for not offering :(

My suggestion:
Take it back to the store that you bought it at. Explain that while using the update tool to update to the latest version your phone is now not functional.
Insurance was not offered to you when purchased the phone and should have been(don't let them tell you it is only available on the day of purchase-not true- sitting here with a bud who is the owner of this metro store here) bottom line is it is always available.
Accept nothing less than a replacement as they will most likely offer you a Samsung attain or LG connect as the esteem no longer being produced. They can't get the rebooting issue resolved and are giving up:(
Don't bother with an in store rep..go right in and ask for the manager..if he won't help..ask for go to a corporate store and repeat the same steps above.
Please elaborate as to what he did in regards to the "update" the info may helpful to all of us.:D

Lol oh okay. Thanks for all that info, very helpful. We will go there today. As for the info on the update, now I'm confused too, haha! I will have to wait until he wakes up (works 3rd shift) and ask him again what on earth he did.

That really sucks about no longer producing the esteem, too. He's gonna be pretty disappointed, he LOVED this phone. :-(
