Help Phone won't boot after installing clockworkmod

acp1

Lurker
:( I'm slowly going crazy with this phone and am really hoping I didn't brick a brand new phone...

I was following a guide on LifeHacker to backup my rom using ROM Manager (free)

After installing Rom Manager from market, I selected "Backup Current Rom" and it prompted me to install "clockworkmod".

After install, however, the phone turned off and I can't get it to turn back on since....

Ideas? I'm desperate here :(

Hello mate,

I have the exact same problem. I wanted to try backing up my current installation of Android (Gingerbread 2.3.3). I Googled how to do it and found Clockworkmod.

I installed and ran it, it made a back up. And then, the phone lost power. Black screen. No buttons reacting.

I tried everything, from just pressing the power button to removing the battery to trying out several key combinations (volume + home for safe boot etc.) but nothing helps. It's as if NO BATTERY is inserted into the device.

It responds to nothing.

I have read that fully charging it might solve it, but I was at school when the malfunctioning occured, so I immediately went to the store where I bought it when I left school.

They say they will send it to a Samsung Service Center and that I can expect a 2 to 3-week waiting period.

I urge ANYONE with remote knowledge of this subject to answer and help us.

Thanks.

Okay, It looks like we have bricked our phones. A shame, because it isn't covered under warranty.

The best you can hope for is to send it in with no mention of rooting, just say it won't turn on and that you've tried everything samsung recommends. Then hope they wipe it and return it with no charge.

This happened to me. If someone can contact clockwork mod and report this, they might release a fix for it.

Sorry, that's all I can do for you.

It also seems that you two have not properly installed Clockworkmod.
First of all, when you launch Rom Manager and click install clockworkmod, there is no Gio in the list. So do not try to pick other phones!
Second of all a clockworkmod recovery was released for the Samsung Galaxy Gio years ago here (flash with odin)!
Please search the web first or atleast go to XDA Developer Forums and search your device there :)
It also seems the your phone is hardbricked. Follow the post here, it might help you :)
