I recently rooted my evo for the first time and was installing some roms to try out. First thing i did was make a backup. tried a couple roms out and didnt like any. Had no problem restoring my backup until i tried flashing kinged kingdom. I cannot get it to flash (or any other rom now) and tried to restore backup. It says it was succesfully restored but when i reboot it just turns on and off. Im running out of ideas and i really need my phone for work. any ideas? I appreciate any ideas!

I would try wiping before you restore the nandroid first. I have had some issues before with bootloops from left over data.

How long did you wait for Kingdom to boot up? What happened when you flashed it?

I have a similar problem! Got a EVO flashed to Boost with KingsROM on it; installed ROM Manager (though there was clockwork on it) and DLed and installed the CM7 mod for EVO. After install, the mod had no dial pad, and other oddities, then upon retoring it; I go a boot loop...planning on taking out the old ROM manually on a PC and adding a new CM7 DLed from the net onto the PC (with a gapps file I found others needed with the SuperSonic "stable" mod). No solutions yet (in process here) but, though maybe people helping with this could help with that.

First, I would ditch Rom Manager. It is known to be a little buggy and can cause some issues like this. I would suggest switching to Amon RA 2.3 recovery as it seems to be more stable and does a better job. If you want to switch recoveries you can go here and follow the instructions there to get it flashed.

As far as CM7, I would make sure you get a good download of the rom and gapps files, put them on your card and flash them manually through recovery. Wipe everything first(except your sdcard), flash the rom, reboot, go back to recovery and flash the gapps file, then reboot. You should be good to go after that.

I would let it run all the way through but an error would occur. I was using RA but switched to clockwork and flashed no problem with backups working.

@Xtremedays-Thanks for the help; those were my plans (except switching recovery; figured the original [and slightly older] version of Clockwork on it would be ok). My real concerns before swapping the roms out is that when the initial load of cm7 that "half worked" began, it didn't want any of my google info again. And as I said, all the phone functions (and info such as contacts) was just gone. More like a odd tablet version...but, my last ponderance I am seeking input on is method of operation. Should I use a different phone to access my card or simply use a SD drive (with an adapter)...just a bit of over-worry at this point I guess...

There should be no issue with using the disk drive function in the phone to allow access to the card while installed in your phone. You could use a card reader if you prefer for peace of mind.

the reason why it does not ask you for the setup with google is that you need to flash the gapps file as well. so the way cm7 works is that you flash the rom reboot then flash the gapps file then reboot. now you should be able to load your info and get the market and such. you can access your card via recovery just select mount and storage then select mount usb storage.
