Root Phone won't reboot: Liberty ROM

Zookrider

Lurker
Initial problem:

My rooted droid bionic (Liberty ROM) was running just fine. Then yesterday for no reason the audio jack lost it's mind. Even though there were no headphones plugged in, the phone was acting as if there were (i.e. no audio coming from the speaker). Then, when I actually did plug headphones in, it would try to dial the last number I called repeatedly. The dial screen would come up, close, call time 0:00 would flash across the screen, then that would immediately repeat over and over.

Attempted solution:

After multiple attempts to resolve through restarting and removing the battery, I thought it might be a software issue so I went into clockwork recovery mod and restored my most recent image. That put me back to blur. It didn't solve the problem though.

Where I killed it:

I decided to just reboot back into Liberty and worry about it later. I went back cwrm and told it to install Liberty ROM from the sd card. After that completed I told it to reboot. Now my phone is just playing the Liberty ROM loading screen (spinning eagle) indefinitely. It won't boot. It won't do anything. Going back over the instructions on how to load the custom rom I see that I should have done a factory reset first. Not sure if that's helpful.

Your only hope is to reflash 5.9.902 with rsdlite, reroot using motofail and then you can restore one of your liberty back up's. But I would be careful because when you restore from a back up everything from the previous rom will be wipe ( like a factory reset ) so the backup goes in clean. This makes me think your backup you tried is corrupt. Either try a different one or just reinstall everything yourself fresh.

All the files and links are in the root section.

Is this something I do through AP Fastboot Flash Mode (i.e. holding down the decrease volume button and powering on)? I hope so since that is the only way I can manipulate my phone, as mentioned earlier, powering on normally just plays the boot screen indefinitely.

Edit: Nevermind, I found your tutorial.

Worked like a charm. I haven't re-rooted yet, that'll be my project this afternoon. Thanks for the help. Oh yeah, the audio jack issue seems to have been resolved as well.
