Root Phone won't turn on after downgrade

noobyboi

Lurker
I upraded my Huawei U8800-51 from Build u8800v100r001usac07b635 (Android 2.2.2) to U8800V100R001C00B526G001 (Android 2.3.5).

My wifi didn't work, so I downgraded to Android 2.2.1 (Build U8800_V100R001C17B162CUSTC17D001).

The upgraded said it had completed successfully and was going to restart.

It turned off and didn't turn back on. I waited about 15-20 minutes and tried to turn the phone on, with no luck. I took the battery out, plugged it into the charger and it vibrated, stuck the batter in...no luck.

So, holding the volume up and down keys and the power button to re-initiate the upgrade doesn't work, nor does holding the volume down button and power button.

All it responds to is pressing the power button, which makes the phone vibrate...or plugging it in without the battery, which makes the phone vibrate. The charging light doesn't come on, nor does it respond any other way.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it to turn on?

Hi noobyboi, Your U8800-51 is a dedicated Model produced for AT&T. Did you download the upgrade from the Settings > About phone > Online upgrade > Firmware or Software upgrades? Neil.
P.S. This link may answer your question as it confirms something I read some time back. There is no Upgrade available at Huawei for this U8800-51!

I downloaded the original upgrae to 2.3.5 from the Huawei website and it was fine, except for wifi not turning on.

I downgraded back to 2.1.1 to get my wifi back...and that's when it didn't turn back on.

I copied the update.app file to a dload folder on my sdcard, and then went to settings and did the upgrade...

Hi noobyboi, You obviously did not use the phone built in facility to get the OFFICIAL/APPROVED Upgrade!
When you go to Huawei to get any Software, you must confirm that your phone Build Number is on the list approved for upgrade and also your Version number must be on the list.
If you install an Upgrade not suitable for your phone - You may "BRICK" it.
Have you taken the time to check the Link I Posted? To the best of my knowledge the AT&T Huawei U8800-51 Impulse 4G phone does not have an upgrade from Froyo 2.2.2
There have been quite a number of users who have tried installing U8800 Pro update to U8800 phones to try and get ICS on their phones and ended up with "bricks". Some have managed to get back to "Factory Reset" by using the correct Root and Recovery Software.
Because you have tried to go back
My wifi didn't work, so I downgraded to Android 2.2.1 (Build U8800_V100R001C17B162CUSTC17D001).
and now your phone wont start properly - you may possibly join the "bricked" group.
I would suggest you Google to see if you can "unbrick" your phone.
Have you tried the "Factory Reset" procedure? Press VOL+ and VOL- and POWER keys simultaneously and hopefully this will initiate the Reset. You may have to try this several times to get it to work. Cheers Neil.
Is your phone an AT&T unit or is it 2nd hand?
