well i've just been down with my mate to pick up his replacement htc legend and the bloke who served us was saying 2.2 was saying that the htc desire is now getting discontinued and that 2.2 froyo is now available for the legend and desire... is ther any truth to this? mainly the discontinued claim?

HTC have said that the Desire will be one of the first phones to get 2.2
There are rumours of a Desire HD coming out at some point though.

May be is preferable to wait for 2.2 froyo????? just a thought, it could be better to buy it 2.1 than upgrade to 2.2 within a few days of puchase......................
I saw somewhere else that P4U are discontinuing it, not HTC.

I understood that the european handsets were going to get an ota update last week I think...? but maybe they still havent.

I don't know. My fiance's is rooted so we don't get those OTA updates. Waiting for a modaco version.

The Hero has definitely got 2.1 at last. Although it doesn't matter to me, as I dumped mine for a Desire back in May

I believe its just sales talk, same as some guy down the pub said. They don't really know whats going on but it might.probably will happen. I assume you meant they are planning to start pre-installing 2.2 instead of 2.1?
