Phones 4 U

I am due an upgrade and was looking at the Sony Xperia S.
The Orange website are doing 600mins, 3000 texts and 1GB for

just remember orange will usually come with all its own software on it and will be locked whereas usually p4u doesnt lock phones

Sorry, I don't mean to sound thick!! but I am replacing my first ever contract phone. Is what you have advised a good thing or bad?

Just got mine today from P4U on a 12 month upgrade. They said that it was dispatched on 10th march.

Damn no smart watch though.

Guys, was your sony xperia s box security sealed? Mine came without a seal sticker.

prso9-id say get it unlocked better to sell on afterwards and wont have a orange logo plastrered on the back

wah007 mine wasnt sealed either if that helps-maybe because they had to add the micro sim in the package?

Thanks for your reply Gabyevs. My micro sim was taped to the outside of the box. Normally i would have been worried about it being a customer return but it is just released and we were the first ones to receive it

i got mine in white from phones4u, it came 2 days ago and with all the cables, me and my mates watched a .mkv blueray rip of Colombiana, it was absolutely amazing.

2 downsides, 1. phones4u sent me a normal sim and not a micro one but they emailed me before id even received the phone to tell me and have posted out a micro one so I will let them off

and B. (lol) the battery life is woeful! Id rather the phone was a bit heavier and actually had some battery life. and as its fixed once the battery starts to deteriorate the phone is going to be near useless i think.

Everything else is amazing, the screen, watching blurays, much more interesting features than the boring iphone (which i have cut off and am now using as an ipod)

I have now ordered my phone from Phones 4 U on Orange, although the stock is actually coming from Dial A Phone as the deal I wanted cannot be bought from Phones 4 U in an upgrade. So I have 600mins, 3000 texts and 1gb of internet, all for

thats funny i got that same deal asn upgrade from p4u

same here i upgraded with P4U and im on the panther one thats 32.50 a month i get 900 mins, unlimited txts and 1gb of internet and i get the swabalbblbllbes thing but the Sky Sports Go app isnt available on the XS yet!

It needs to be one of the reasons i actually liked my iphone was that i could watch the footy when i was out and about. Watching the footy on the XS will be epic!

i'm paying 45 pound monthly with 900 mins and unlimited txts and 500mb data on a 12 months contract. 18 months is too long for me.

Going to take my phone back to them today to see if they can exchange it for another. Along the bottom of the display there is a yellowish tinge, especially noticeable on a white background.

oh dear not good zafonic
No it's not gabby. I called my local phones4u and explained the issue. They told me to call their customer serivice line and talk to the technical team dept. I spoke to a chap who was both helpful and polite. He asked me to do a (screen test) with the display, where if you tap the screen it go white, gree, red etc etc. He asked if i could still see the yellowish tinge running across the screen which i couldn't. I still told him i wasn't happy and want something to be done. He gave me a unique code that i would have to give one of the staff when going back to the shop for a refund.

When i went into phones4u a short time ago, a member of staff asked me show to show them what i meant about the screen, but i am no sure if it was because of the lighting in the shop, you could hardly see the yellowish are at the bottom of the display. When i am out, whether it's outside or in a building where the lighting is brighter than say when viewing the display at home it's no way as noticeable. Maybe this has something to do with it. Maybe slight imperfections if that is the right word are picked up more under certain lighting conditions.

I may start a thread on the Xperia S display, to see if other users have picked up on something similar to what i have outlined in this post.

No, it was hardly visible in the shop. Bloody typical. Some users from the XDA forumare experiencing the same issue too.

gabbyevs, I have been on the p4u website and people are saying it takes 48hours (not including the weekend) for them to activate the sim card. Is that correct?
