Hi guys,

Totally unimpressed with P4U! They clearly do not have a clue what's happening, either online or in store.

I've just had the following conversation with an online customer service person on the P4U Website:

You're probably getting a lot of this today, however I pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S2 with yourselves purely because of the early release date and delivery date of 27th of April, I ordered and received confirmation of the order on 18th of April. Around half an hour ago I received an email saying that you're working as hard as you can to process the dispatch, and that I'll receive another email with expected delivery date. Obviously I'm now wondering whether I'm going to receive my phone today

Can I just check who you use as a courier, and if possible what time to expect delivery tomorrow? So I can make arrangements again as I did today

It will be Royal Mail that deliver your order. We can not specify a time with it being a 3rd party courier. If you are not in when a delivery is attempted then a card will be left.

During the chat I phoned my local store, the person I spoke to there didn't even seem to know that the release date was today!

I understand that P4U are going to be massively overwhelmed but this really s a mess. No confidence in them whatsoever! I'll be very surprised if it turns up tomorrow.
 
I got my phone, I take back what I said.

You're right they haven't got a clue what is going on. They said it was despatched today, went home for 5 minutes and there it was. Right lets get this baby going!

That's what I've just had, and I ordered the same date as you! This is crap, the sales advisor I spoke to promised the phone for today, I wish I'd kept the log of it!
 
i have recieved my phone at 9:30 am today the email i received yesterday said it would come at 1pm the next day

from what you are saying order numbers must be high and P4U are just accepting more and more orders with out knowing when each customer is getting there phone.
 
I ordered mine late on the 24th and have received it today, so it is not first come first served.

My phone is unlocked. I went for the T Mobile contract.
 
Doesn't look like it. I'm not sure what 'system' they have in place, but it's not working too well! They can't even say it's a case of first come first served because it blatantly isn't. I've never used P4U before, always went with mobiles.co.uk! I got drawn in by the 27th release date...
 
Blagger, I wonder if it's because you went for T-Mobile? Hmm. I went for Orange, maybe that has something to do with it. Don't know why I'm making excuses for them! Head Office are going to be getting a shirty email if it doesn't turn up tomorrow
 
Yeah KadyKat, that could be the case. As T Mobile themselves are not selling the phone themselves until June it may have been quicker as it was an unlocked device. I'm wondering for those that have received it on orange, will there phone be locked or unlocked, anyone?

So far really have just had a feel of the phone, it is super super light but it does feel very plasticy. Will play with it tonight. Best do some work!

i'd just like to see what deviations to form factor the US carriers will have. would like to have just the 4 buttons at the bottom in stead of the clicky center one. hopefully that would cut some length off of the device. maybe mid may there will be better US release details.
 
I'm waiting for sim free version, I don't do contracts.

Will probably have to wait until may but I'll keep checking sites for stock. :)
 
My local Phones 4 U got 2 handsets in at 2pm. By 3pm, I was walking out with the last one. Just in time!
 
bah, turns out Mr phones4u on the phone on Monday lied to me. I called today after receiving an email today saying "we're working hard to process your order blah blah and we'll notify you once it has been despatched"

what! I was supposed to be receiving it today I exclaimed. the woman on the phone proceeded to tell me the guy hadn't factored in the monday bank holiday. yet I see you guys on here receiving yours today. not good enough. I'm off to Bermuda for two weeks on saturday. I think ill be giving them another call, either cancelling or same day delivery.
 
This is easily one of the biggest balls-ups I've seen in a long time. I must confess that I didn't trust them to deliver on the specified date, especailly with all the non-commital answers regarding dispatch day.

I'm lucky, I work in Birmingham so the P4U there phoned to say they had stock on 26th. I cancelled my pre-order and took it out though the store.

I don't want to rub salt into the wound, but I promise you this phone is worth waiting for, even if you get it from CPW instead.
 
First time poster, long time reader.

Here' my phones4u story. Harassed them on the phone yesterday and was told that the phone would be dispatched today and I should receive it Thurs. I called today to double check and spoke to a lady who wasn't sure if the phone had been dispatched. After getting hot under the collar and banging on about being dicked about with promises of delivery this week (as we all know if it doesn't arrive tomorrow, its gonna be Tuesday). She shat it a touch and came back to me with confirmation that the phone was dispatched this afternoon.

I wasn't sure if she was just saying any old crap to get me off the phone, but called back and spoke to "Heather" who confirmed this - more or less. They seem to love using indecisive terms when it comes to delivery times.

Anyway, just now received an email from P4U stating -

Your order has now been completed and will be despatched this evening by Royal Mail Special Delivery, who will deliver pre 1:00pm on the next working day.

No tracking no. on the email though, but this has just about put my mind at ease. Good luck, one and all!
 
Went on a tour of Britannia (ship) went to P4U store nearby, saw and played with the SGS2. Looks slick. I can't believe how thin this thing really is. I felt worried holding the phone afraid it will just break. Also its light. Lighter and thinner than my SE C510. The P4U guy also mentioned that you can buy it unlock online from their site at
