We must admit, the Samsung Galaxy 3 hands down is the best camera phone on the market. With the user being able to change almost every facet of the picture via camera setting before or afterwards, the pictures come out stunning every single time.

This thread is dedicated to the beautiful photography that comes from Note 3's around the world

This thread deserves to be sticky because everyone can relate when i say that the camera in itself is a piece of art
 
Loving it, don't get me wrong...but I do miss so much the macro focus option that was on the Note 2. I can not believe they took that feature off of the Note 3. I spent last summer making beautiful macro photo's of butterflies and flowers with the macro focus mode on my Note 2...I'm really going to miss that now that I traded up to the Note 3...but other than that... for normal photos yes, I am still very happy with the Note 3.
 
Decent yes, but not the best. The in phone/camera jpeg processing is not great, especially in less than perfect lighting. In good lighting it's a bit over processed still. Mainly as it relates to noise reduction.

Does it work, sure. Is it pretty good, yes. However in terms of camera, I wouldn't rate it the best. Handles highlights better than an iPhone, especially skin tones in bright light. Overall though, the iPhone handles noise better.

Like Simon, I don't shoot with my phone as my work wouldn't allow it. However, I do use it a fair bit for personal needs and I don't have my common gear with me.
 
The Note 3 camera is good, but not the best. I think the accolade for best camera on a phone must go to the Nokia Lumia 1020 or Nokia 808, both of which I have seen poster (Super A1 - 36" x 24") sized prints that were simply superb for a phone.
 
Lots of disagreement about this premise. Many folks think that the camera has taken a step backwards from the Note 2. Low light with the stock camera is quite poor actually. Los of smearing. There are several 3rd party camera apps that make it better but it's not the best camera out there. The biggest problem other than the smearing issue is jumping up to 13 mp without increasing the size of the sensor. This makes the pixels smaller and more crammed in, which increases the noise. Hopefully, the new technology that Samsung has been working on will address this (the S5 is supposed to have it), and there is another development down the line that is supposed to be a breakthrough.

But best camera now? Not really? The iPhone is still better.
 
I think the note 2 was a better camera. It processed it immediately and blurring from camera shake was not there. The note 3 requiresa very steady hand. Something I struggle with.

Artificial lighting can also be a bit glarey.

If you are having shake issues due to reaching for the button, try the voice command for taking pictures. Once you enable it you can just say shoot or cheese and it takes a picture.
 
You also have to hold it a little bit longer because of the processing time. If you move it too early, you're screwed, especially in low light.
 
I find that the low light perf of the note 3 camera is extremely horrid, in my opinion of course.

In great lighting, the shots come out wonderful. Low light is a serious drag.
 
When I first saw this thread I thought it was going to be a thread full of pictures taken with the Galaxy Note 3, but it has been a discussion instead, although there is nothing wrong with that I'm wondering whether pictures are allowed too.

I will post a picture that I took today with the Galaxy Note 3 and if its a problem for example taking people's internet bandwidth then I will take it off.

It's interesting to me because I took a few of the same picture, but the only one I liked was the one with the HDR setting on it.

I also tried to take a picture of Big Ben in London at sunset using the Sun Surveyor application but it was quite cloudy so I stood around for a few minutes and then took the picture of Big Ben at around 6 PM, and sunset at that location was 5:49 PM, so not exactly low light conditions, but entering the "Blue Hour"

Well, except for ideal conditions, all cameraphone pictures are mediocre compared to any decent digital camera. The technology has a way to go. However, while it's easy to take a lousy picture with the Note, it's not hard to take a picture that's more than acceptable by cellphone standards, even among the top tier. You just have to know the right camera apps to use and some basic photographic techniques.
 
Camera is quite good but I need hardware IOS and maybe a faster exposure even outside of Sport mode. I'm disabled and my hands are always shaking. I'm still the geek of choice for taking the families vacation pics.

There is an alternative for OIS Optical Image Stabilization in the "Camera FV-5" application in the Google Play store. I noticed the shaking hand symbol one day and switched it on and surprised how well it worked.

Maybe you could give it a try. Happy picture taking :p
 
I found the original box & the Spigen SlimArmor & Spigen Neo Hybrid D cases that I bought after seeing them on one of the cases forums. I've only used them a couple of times since I don't really like the dimensions of the phone after its inside them.

I am a hobbyist when it comes to digital photography. I will say the camera on this phone is pretty amazing. At the end of my workday, I try to make it to a few favorite spots for a good sunset pic. One evening recently, I forgot to pack my DSLR, so I thought I'd take the Note 3 for a spin.

Without messing with all the special filters, I think it did pretty good with the limited time I had and no time to compose the shot. I'll say it's a good backup for what I'm trying to do. I've even done some closeup shots around the house and it does really well with that, especially macro stuff.
