Help Photos from Galaxy 4 to PC

I have a Galaxy 3 and a Galaxy 4. I had NO issues transferring photos from the Galaxy 3 to my PC but even after reading tons of stuff and watching videos I can NOT get my Galaxy 4 to connect as the 3 did to transfer my photos.

I tried different cables to no avail.

Can anyone give a simple answer as to what could be wrong or how I can get my photos on the Galaxy 4 to my PC.

Please!!
 
Does your galaxy do anything when connected to the PC? Does it light up? Or does the computer show that it is connected?
 
It will start charging. The reason I tried a different data cable is that some cables that will charge the 3 will not charge the Galaxy 4. Have no idea why. But I found out first on that I have to use different chargers for each phone.

Sorry if I'm confusing you.

I used to have iPhones and when I plugged those in I had options to connect to my PC. The 3 works like that but not the 4. I searched all my phone settings and could find nothing that would help either.

This PC is running Windows 7 Professional. Which of the above drivers would I need to install?

I have a Windows 10 PC downstairs. Should I try connecting my phone to that to see if it works? I'll try that later today.

Sorry to be so dumb but don't want to mess anything else up.
 
I have owned one S4 that would only connect to a PC with the original Samsung cable that came with the device. Other cables would charge but would not transfer data.
 
The Drivers are actually stored on your phone in a hidden partition. Use the usbdeview first, with the phone unattached. Windows 7 is fine. Run it and it will show a list of currently installed drivers. If you see a number of drivers that say Samsung, go ahead and uninstall them. When done attach your phone and wait to see if the proper drivers install. The process should be automatic. If that doesn't work then use the driver package I attached. It is an executable installer. Make sure your phone is not attached, extract the .exe and run it. When it is done attach the phone. Let me know how it turns out.
 
You can also use WiFi and avoid the USB cable altogether.
this is my favorite goto anymore.

Setup C:\ as Shared with a password.

Install * File Manager ASUS - Android Apps on Google Play

use the upper left 3 bar menu to discover all of the Network devices on your WiFi network.
You can then search thru the PC's drive with ASUS File Manager just as if you were using the Windows File Explorer. It will ask you for the Network Password, use the same one that you used to set up the Shared Folder/Drive

To copy photos, just click on the Images icon, and search for what you want. Long press to select files to transfer,
then use the upper right corner menu to "copy to" and select the proper Network/shared folder
click on 'go'
 
Just wanted everyone who's been kind enough to respond that I was having some luck with my laptop that is running Windows 10 but still have had much luck. When connected it did connect as a media player but then things got confusing. Still working on it and hope to have some luck.

I now have another issue. I downloaded the Kies software for my laptop and somehow I changed the connection to Camera vs. Media Device which is what Kies requires. How do I get it back to connecting as Media? I also downloaded the File Mgr. software just in case.

I'm sorry but things are getting so darned confusing big time. The biggest issue is that the laptop is running Win10 which is also a challenge. I do not like Win10.

Why isn't this a simple thing like connecting to my Win 7 Profession desktop as the "old"days?
 
Windows 10 killed file sharing altogether. You can view pics and vids, but you cannot move or copy to and from devices
 
I have stopped using the USB cable altogether myself,

I now only use ASUS File Manager and WiFi thru the network paths.
Note though, I am updating the PC each time I add new pictures, not trying to copy 9,000 images all at once.
WiFi is going to be a slow bitch if you try to copy the entire SD card's contents in one fell swoop.​

I did download the ASUS file just in case.
But how in the world do I get the phone back to the Media option instead of Camera when I plug it in. Checked settings on my phone but still can't do it.

When you connect the USB cable to the phone, pull down the drop down menu. Should see USB symbol with options, select MPT.

Play Store, just use the search there.

There is one other thing you might could check depending on your S4 model number, the hidden menu USB settings.
Open your phone dial pad and enter *#0808#
Should take you to the menu, check what is selected. Should look like this.
Make changes as needed then Save. Use return key to exit menu

a good app, BUT, it is not near as user friendly, nor is it anywhere close to being as fast to use as ASUS File Manager.
ASUS always presents to me the most recent pix/files in the 1st screen that comes up.

I can open ASUS, and be done sending the last 5 pix to my PC in less than 10 seconds.
 
I've printed off all the messages and will give them all a try, but at this point I feel like giving up. Can't believe it's this hard to move photos from my phone to the PC. I finally got rid of my iPhones and up until now I really liked the Samsung.

Lots of options for a workaround.
Just to throw another out there, Drop Box.
You can upload pictures to Drop Box and have access to them from multiple devices and PC.
Also able to share with others using the public folder and sending a link.
