Help Photos not on my phone why?

I have taken a lot of photos from my phone. Just yesterday I was looking for a photo and it was not there. In my photo folder on my phone i have 63 photos but when I go plug in my phone to my computer and open the DCIM folder it shows i have 264 photos, but only 63 are showing up.

Why are all my photos not on my phone? I was on the phone with sprint for 1hr last night. Did a hard reset and everything.

Can anyone please please help me so I can have my all my photos on my phone at once

so let me understand.

you did a factory reset and your handset still showed the 264 photos available but only 63 you could find?

if you have a card reader on your computer, take out the sd card from the handset and put it in a card reader and see if you see the photos that way.

if you do not have a card reader, do you have a file explorer on your handset that you can go in and look the cards contents?

are you rooted by chance?
