Hello .. apologies if this is elswhere ive had a look but nothing stood out..

I like the idea of been able to take pictures of entire surroundings is there anyway that can get this on a s4 unrooted?

Failing that any knowledge of apps that perform a similar task?

Do you mean a panoramic, 360 degree, shot?

Camera > Mode > Panorama
 
Photosphere was a Google feature in their camera software that is not available in the Samsung camera software for the S3 and S4. AFIAK it has been discontinued. If you can find it, let us know where because I miss using it (had it on the GNex).
 
By the way, keep in mind the ap comes bundled with the gallery app. Both work just fine in parallel with the existing gallery and camera on your phone.
