Help Pic mail is weird

Ok guys and gals this is my first Android phone so i'm not sure if its how they all are or not, but when i get pic mail it just adds it to the text message conversation with that person. the problem with that is that it is never where it should be in the conversation. Its like several hours before hand on the timestamp when they just sent it. they are in same time zone and their clock is correct. is there anyway to make it so my pic mail will go to a different location?

Does this happen with every mms you get?
And if so, are they coming from a specific carrier, ie; verizon, att, sprint?

In my area, quite often, mms and sometimes texts from verizon to sprint get delayed quite a bit. Around here, it's basically verizon lagging to every other carrier by a few minutes or up to a few hours.
