Pick who rings and who doesn't?

I was showing off my droid yesterday to a coworker who hates his BB storm. He is now getting one today. He brought up a good question. We travel on business A LOT, but when he goes to bed at night (away from home) he wants to be able to silence his phone for all but his wife and kids. Without using google voice, is there a way to do this? I think its a great idea, and I agree it would ge really nice. I have quick profiles, but I don't see any way of occomplishing that with this program. It would be great to be able to select a profile as easy as you do on quick profiles that would do this.
 
Have a look in the marketplace for SilentTime Pro. The free version allows you to program in the times the phone is silent and the paid version allows you to add exceptions from your contact list that will ring through, even if it is a "silent" time. The only downside is that the notification for text messages doesn't ring, just incoming calls. Stii, it is one of my favorite apps.
 
Google voice is good for sure, the only problem with it, is that you would have to change your number. AND make sure that NOBODY ever calls your verizon number. I don't think that's realistic. There are times we have to get up at 4am Eastern time. That means going to bed about 8 which is only 5pm to the people we know on the west coast... Ohh just thought, can you forward your verizon number to the google number so that the verizon number wont ring either?
 
Here's something that may work, and it's already built into the phone. If you only used a custom ringtone for the wife and kids, and everyone else was set to "default", at night just change the default ringtone to "silent".

The default ringtone setting is found at Settings > Sound & display > Phone ringtone.

that's a great suggestion for a workaround. I'll have to try that.
 
"Who is John Galt" is on a bumpersticker on my car ;)


Locale will also do a lot of other stuff. I have my desktop at work lock/unlock depending on proximity of my phone over BlueTooth, but I don't want BlueTooth on all day... Locale handles that for me.

I wish it were cheaper. It's great, but $10 is a little steep for it. I still like it, tho.
 
VIP call is the what I was looking for. I'm sure the others do something similar but this one was perfect! Thanks
