I'm pretty sure that the same thing happens in Apple iphone forums. =p
Everyone has different needs, etc etc. If the iphone meets those requirements, so be it. I know that not everyone will have the same needs as myself, so why should I get upset or offended if someone chooses differently?

I think some the "upset" ones are expressing that they don't want to see satisfied Android to iPhone posts in these forums, and that seems not only rude and narrow, but is also contrary to forum guidelines. The Moderators here have made that clear, and have even removed some posts with that in mind.
I have family members and friends with iPhones and most like them very much. One thing that I've not seen at all, personally, is what the OP has done: going from Android to iPhone, although I've seen the opposite move with coworkers mainly.
It seems the iPhone suffers from AT&T network problems, as well as lack of customizing, etc. The main thing that drew some away and toward Android is the plethora of choices in styles. iPhone is just iPhone (white or black), but I've lost track of how many Androids are out there to choose from.
