Help Picture Messages

Is there some kind of a size limit, and if so a way to change it for getting pictures via MMS? I can send no problem, but get nothing...... except from myself, and they have to be small (<1M). My friends with iPhones and even non-smart older phones cannot send me pics, BUT, they get mine just fine!!
It doesn't matter if I use the native android program or Handcent.

Any ideas? please

try Messages > Menu > Settings > Auto-retrieve.
may sound silly, but just to confirm, you have mobile internet turned on right?
ALSO
for the size limit thing,
Messages > Menu > Settings > Maximum message size
just generally muck around with the MMS settings and see what happens
IF NOT and you're updated to Android 2.2, try a hard reset, there are A LOT of 2.2 problems
