Help Pin lock after upgrade

bcrayon

Lurker
I am wondering if anyone else is having issues with thier phones not all the way booting up after the 2.2 update. I rebooted my phone after the upgrade and it would just sit with a blank screen after the S logo. I would have to take the battery out and boot at least 5 times, usually about 7, untill the screen would come up for me to enter my pin number. After uninstalling numerous apps i finally disabled the pin lock feature and now it boots without issue. the bad news is my corporate email forces a pin lock code so I have to hope to not shut my phone down. Sorry if this has already been covered but I wanted to know if anyone else had this issue.

You are not alone my Android brother! I came across your post trying to track down extremely slow boots on my Vibrant. Upon upgrading to stock Froyo on my Vibrant, I've found the new email program enforces the exchange server setting requiring a pin or password lock. If I set either of those locks, the phone gives a "triple vibrate" and seems to restart part of the boot process many times. I've clocked boots at 11 minutes. Pattern lock seems to work fine, but the Exchange server doesn't permit it. I've connected USB and monitored the system log during boot and see numerous "fatal" errors, but nothing really related to the lock. I haven't tried it yet, but I've been told the popular Exchange client "touchdown" doesn't enforce the pattern lock in the same way. I'm hoping that will do it. I also will try my wife's Vibrant. Her's is much more stock than mine. Robert

As suggested by rmeden, download Touchdown from market and use it for your corporate e-mail. You can try it free with full features for 30 days. In a way, Touchdown might be even better than stock e-mail app. Your corporate e-mail will still require PIN lock, but now it'll only ask for PIN whenever you open Touchdown e-mail app, not when you power on the phone or wake it up.
