Help Pin Lock Options

Like probably a lot of us we have our corporate email on our phone and of course they require a PIN lock min on the phone. What I am wondering is, is there a way to change how long before the PIN lock goes into affect but still have the ability to use swipe to unlock when I push the power button. A lot of times I will turn off my screen of my phone but don't like how I have to always type in my PIN every time I turn the screen back on, but I still want the swipe to unlock feature to be in affect so I don't accidentally call someone, etc when my phone is in my pocket. Is this possible with this phone?

After you enabled PIN lock under Lock Screen menu, a new option will appear "Secured lock time". Is that what you are looking for?

I don't see that as an option. is it under the main lock screen settings, or is it somewhere else. If you have pics to post of what it should look like that would be great to.

BTW, the S-pen comes in handy. The other day we have to go to an off site location for software installation. My manager wants to tag along, so I took a screenshot of google map and drawn instructions on it and emailed to him. :p

I do not show that as an option.. I have VZW so I wonder if they took that away.. here is what I have.

Screen Lock
With Swipe Lock
Lock Screen Options
Popup note on Lock Screen
Lock Automatically - Thought this would of been it, but it is not it just sets when the screen locks but won't let me change when the secure lock takes affect.
Lock Instantly with Power Key
Vibrate on Screen tap

Yeah it does look like Verizon took it away. On my AT&T version, once you hit the Secure lock time option, it will give you choice of Lock Instantly with Power Key, 5 min, 10 min, ... etc... Look like Verizon replaced that with just Lock Instantly with Power Key.

Actually what happened if you click Lock Instantly with Power Key? Maybe it is just a different name and will give you option to set the time?

it is just a check box. Nothing to change time to. This sucks because having that feature would of been great. Got to love verizon yet again.

Ok, I have a question. You don't have with swipe lock checked. if that is checked. Can you turn off your screen and then back on and use swipe lock but not your pin lock until your time is up that you have set for secure lock time?

Yes. It would work exactly as your described in your first post. For myself, I actually don't have PIN lock enabled. I just have swipe lock as my phone never leave me. I may forget my keys or my wallet but not my phone. ;)

I only enabled PIN lock temporary to take the screenshot.

Ok, well now that it has been announced the boot loader can be unlocked (we will see how easy it is) I might be able to get that option. :)

Secured lock time isn't an option on the Sprint version either (sounds like Verizon and Sprint took the same approach).

Nontheless, I'm glad I have been using Widgetlocker for a long time because that actually bi-passes the phone from locking immediately and my phone only locks after 30 minutes have gone by without phone use.

Now, my only problem is trying to find a way to prevent the home button from waking the phone up and only allowing the power button to do that. Widgetlocker can't seem to override that function on the Note 2.

@drex: i remember you saying before that when you receive a text message, the screen flashes? that doesn't happen to me. all i get is a sound or a vibrate notification and the led light flashing. maybe i'll test it again...

It might be a difference between the international version and the Sprint version. It also seems to be a standard thing for US Samsung phones because I've seen it posted on S3 forums also. Nontheless, it doesn't flash, the screen wakes up completely. I really hated it, but now that I have the pop-up app that prevents it, I've been extremely happy.

Settings/lock screen-"lock automaticly"
Changing this setting defines how long after the screen has turned off to enable the lockscreen

Not if it's encrypted by corporate email exchange. Anytime you put the phone on standby, it automatically enables the pin security.

Only workaround I've found so far is to use widgetlocker as my dedicated lock screen.

You can use an aftermarket mail app though like touchdown. Still has a pin but you only need the pin to get to the app.

I found my solution with widgetlocker, which I've used since I first got my Photon. But at least there are other options for people that don't want a different locker.
