Pin required when autosync w/Exchange

Seen this prob posted in other forums, but have not found a solution that fits the charge. Once we autosynced with our corporate Exchange server for email, phone requires PIN to open even though that setting is not required by Exchange. Have tried lockpicker and a few others but without sucess. Any help greatly appreciated.

Your IT folks have probably setup Exchange synch to require a PIN for corporate security reasons. You might be able to change that setting via your web login to the exchange server settings for your work account, or you may have to talk to your IT folks.

I believe K9 (iirc) on the market sets the pin when you actually open the mail account instead of when you power on the phone.

If you are willing to root it gives you more options though.

Edit: Touchdown is the one I was referring to.

I'm the Exchange Admin for our corp. (The require PIN was enabled on the Exchange Server but even when adding a user to the exception list or disabling the policy on the server, phones were still requiring a PIN.)

If the PIN is not a requirement from your IT department (MS Exchange Server setting), then check the following on your phone. Settings - Location & security - Device administration - Select device administrators. If it is activated, deactivate the one associated with email. Then go to, Settings - Location & security - Change screen lock and select None (or Pattern or whatever you want).

Hope this helps. I spent many days trying to figure out why the phone was holding on to the requirement (and the user even went to the cell store and their techs couldn't find the solution).

I worry that changing this device Admin setting may prevent you from wiping the phone remotely if it is stolen, using the Exchange account maintainace interface. Not all employers may like that idea.
