Pink Hue Screen

Mine has it. As others have said it happens when the brightness is less than 100%.

More concerning to me is the resolution as compared to the regular Droid. I'm surprised people aren't complaining about that more.

But, you get used to both and after a while you don't really notice it. Just don't look at a 1st gen Droid. The clarity and color will remind you how bad it really is.
 
There's definitely a pink hue. I can see it even on full brightness. The dolphin browser also seems to render(the HTC site) much better than the internet app. Gradients are way better and a little less pink.

Is there pink? Yes a little- does it bother me enough to return the phone? No. If you don't like it I guess you can keep going through phones until you get one that has less pink.
 
Can others with the issue maybe also post some pictures??.
I posted some on the page back, and that is using auto brightness.
BTW, is there any chance this could just be a software issue?
 
I thought you guys were crazy but if I scroll up and down on twidroid or gmail you can see that the white of the background is whiter when scrolling and more pink when its stopped. It seems to be app related because as i text on it I don't see and pink tint in the text box.
 
Does anyone have two phones, one with and one without the pink hue issue? I am curious to know if at 100% brightness they display colors the same. I really don't want to turn this phone back in because I might find a problem with the new phone. It would make the decision easier if I knew the problem only existed below 100% brightness.

Then it must be a few apps, because even sites in the browser have a pink tint.
 
Another apps that seem to look weird in color, with the pink tint or just
not dark enough are the ones below. Are these colors normal, does everyones
music, car app, and weather app, have this type of color?

Anyone have any comments on the above pictures?
And again I ask, could this maybe just be a software issue.
One weird thing with this pink hue/tiny issue is, when you look
at the pictures loaded on the phone, none of them have that pin
hue/tint. This made me wonder if it could just be a software bug??
 
I have one of each. My wife's is white and mine is pink. I don't really notice it unless they are next to each other with a white screen.
 
I have it on mine even on this site especially when scrolling through this forum and right around the reply text box. Overall I don't notice it...only in web browser and gmail. Do I need to consider exchanging my di?
 
This is really weird, my phone was near dead like 6%, and when I gave it near
a full charge. I just took it off the charger, and the brightness is still on auto
and the screen magically doesn't look that pink anymore. But I am still worried
about the colors on those pictures I posted above, does everyone's apps look like that?
 
again, i'd like to see a picture of two droid incredibles next to each at 100% brightness showing a difference in the 'hue'. Until then, this is all nonsense.
 
mine has absolutely NO hue to it when it's at 100% brightness. the colors are great. if it's on 50% or below brightness i can notice it. does anybody notice it particularly in areas such as the notification bar area? that's where i can see mine. my phones normally not that dim for me to get the pink hue so i'm not worried about it.

Yes I could see it in the notification bar, and the unlock button.
 
yeah idk. sure, i wish the colors were PERFECT, but chances are if i exchanged it, the next one would have the same issue, probably worse so to me it's not worth the hassle of an exchange when i have a perfectly good device now that does everything i need it to. i didn't buy a house with a faulty foundation, i just bought a phone.

They are not all like this. How many times do I have to say it. I've compared mine against 3 in Verizon stores and all 3 of the Verizon ones were different. It's a color temperature issue with the screen itself. It goes away at higher brightness but not completely.

The camera makes it look a little worse than it is in real life (because the camera's white balance setting will influence what you see in a photo, but our eyes don't always work like a camera when it comes to white balance), but it's not far off, especially if your brightness is low.

So do you think a software patch could fix this on some?
 
Hard to say. HTC could possibly release an updated display driver with a biased color temperature that will balance out the red, but I don't think that is very likely to happen. If you're concerned about it, I would try and return/exchange it. Maybe even try contacting HTC directly instead of whatever vendor you bought it through (although walking into a Verizon store is probably the easiest way to exchange it).

Man I will just keep mine, I got it though a online 3rd party site.
I would have to send it to them, and then they send me a new one.
To much of a pain, and who knows what the next one will look like. :(
 
I know people on xda with Desires were going directly to HTC and I think they were facilitating exchanges under warranty for the issue. Try that if you're worried about the 3rd party vendor.
