Planning a US east car trip

Hi y'all! Hubby and me are planning a cr trip on the east of the US for 2014. What are (if possible related to music) the must sees?
Of course there is the Woodstock '69 compound upstate New York, and the FAME recording studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. What more? Help pinning some point of interest on our map.

We drove around in the south west for three weeks in 2011. Started in San Franscisco, visited CA, NV, AZ, UT, NM, TX and LA, back home via Houston. Since it was my first time there, and hubby had been there a couple of times before and we didn't want it to be a 'showing Katey around' trip, we had this theme: music.
We came across some hard rock cafes, two immense Amoeba music stores, restaurants with live blues and rock music, and for instance seen Janis Joplin's home in San Francisco, Santa Monica's night club The Troubadour (where many artists like Bob Dylan started), paid our respect at Leadbelly's grave 32 miles west of Shreveport, and Buddy Holly's memorial center in Lubbock, TX.

Soooo, what's a must see in the east?

It all depends where you plan to go, but BB King's in NYC always has some kind of music going on (weekends mostly), then there's the Hammerstein Ballroom, but that's mostly like concert-type stuff.
 
There's Graceland, Grand Old Opry. Telling you where to go in those towns is like telling you where to get good pizza in NYC.

Yeah, I know, that's why I'm asking you guys for your experiences, best places to go.
It's kinda too much...
What would be your top 3 or 5?
 
When in the year are you going? This time of year, if you're going to Saugerties make your way up past Albany to Saratoga. There's a museum of dance, auto museum, Saratoga National Battlefield. I feel like I'm missing something.. oh yeah, THE TRACK. If you have ANY interest in horse racing, Saratoga Racetrack would be a GREAT place to visit, it's celebrating 150 seasons this year. If you want a preview, NBC Sports is featuring races from there for the next few Saturdays.

If you get up to there, might as well do Cooperstown (2 hours from Saratoga).
 
If you're going to Cooperstown, visit Ommegang Brewery. One of the best Belgian style breweries in the US (they're now owned by Duvel Moortgat).
Speaking of beer, you could also tour some distilleries in Kentucky if you go that far inward. We went to Maker's Mark a few years ago and it's absolutely gorgeous. Only problem was they had yet to set up a tasting room, but I think it's done now. :)

Y'know what 'Ommegang' means? It's Dutch for the path a procession walks.

We had a next door neighbor in our apartment building a couple years ago who was the regional rep for Ommegang. Great dude and would come into the restaurant I worked for frequently trying to hawk their beers. We caved on one or two since I love them and thought they'd be good for the place (price and style wise).
I still see him occasionally around in beer centered bars in the area. Super cool guy and knows how to make a sale for sure. :)
 
I'm heading to South Carolina on Sunday. Driving back to Colorado, about 2900km, heading back I'll grab brochures from South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri.

Have them on here in two weeks.
