Planning to buy a Hero

Hi i just need a few questions answering before i do buy the phone.

Which is the best network to choose? I'm currently on Orange and am not entirely sure if their Dolphin 30 deal includes sat nav? I've found a deal online on 3 mobile network that says

The 3 Network definitely includes 3G - that's why it's called '3'. ALL handsets from 3 support 3G. :)

For SatNav you can get the vary capable co-pilot live for just

Lekky- i don't really like the T-Mobile network due to the bad signal my area receives. Thanks anyway though :)

Orange have told me the Dolphin 35 package includes satnav so i'm leaning more towards that deal. Unless the satnav is so bad its not worth having? I'm only after basic satnav to be honest.

They just mean the plan comes with data.

What satnav programme will you be using? I dont use satnav but there's generally 2 ways they work.

1- maps are preloaded on the phone so you don't download on the move. (my old n85 came with nokia maps which had all of the UK preloaded)
2- maps are downloaded on the move via 3G/GPRS networks.

If you're using a programme which downloads on the move then you'll need what providers refer to as an 'unlimited' data plan.

Also, it's worth bearing in mind that you can get Google Maps Navigation on Android 1.6+ devices for free.

Have a look at HTC Hero - at BuyMobilePhones.net

I bought from them on a 12 month contract. Although I did t-mobile and they have now stopped 12 month deals and now do 18/24 month only. Orange still do 12 month. Although with 12 month you don't get what they say is a free gift. lol.

T-mobile also give 3GB internet while orange give 500mb on

Apologies for hijacking the thread slightly, but what do people think about waiting for the nexus?

I believe it's out in the UK next month...

Anyway, I was thinking of getting a HTC Hero on orange... but maybe it is just worth waiting for nexus?
