Accessories Platinum Series MobileDock from Best Buy

I bought one of these last week since my air vent mount bit the dust in my accident. I liked the vent holder at first, but found that I didn't really like the fact that it blocked the vent. And I'm scared to use a windshield mount on this delicate little computer we call a phone (I've broken a TomTom this way). So I wanted something to mount on the dash, but I didn't want to scrape adhesive off the dash if I decided to move/replace the mount, and I also don't like the beanbag weight base thingy.

Soooo ... I saw this mount at Best Buy:

Yes, it's about $20 more than a simple mount should cost, but it was the answer to all of the concerns I listed above. It sticks to your dash via some special adhesive that doesn't seem to leave any residue (though I've only had mine for a week, so who knows what a month or a year will leave ...). The phone sticks to the mount via a little sticky green disc, and has yet to pop off even with the bumpiest ride (just make sure to press firmly when you put the phone on). I haven't tried rotating it for two reasons: 1) I'm not completely sure it'll stick horizontally without the support that's there vertically, and 2) the Evo battery door is easy to loosen, which is great for opening the back, not great when it's stuck to that disc.

Removing the phone is easy, just twist it a bit, but for the Evo, you need to make sure you have a finger or two on the battery door for reason #2 I listed above. The force applied to remove the phone can sometimes readjust the swivel position, but only a fraction, and it's not a big deal, to me at least.

It's not the prettiest or most economical mounting solution, but so far, it's perfect for me. I'll post photos of it in action later if anyone needs to see.

Edit: Forgot to mention this is basically a rebranded Bracketron MobileDock, so if you can find it cheaper elsewhere under the name, go for it.
