[Play Music] whoa that's new

How the hell did my entire MP3 collection get on my Play Music account? I'm speaking of over 300 plus files that were on my Galaxy SIII phone, which are now apparently on my Nexus 10 without me downloading them?

I know Android syncs everything but damn. Kinda like it since it saved me the painful process of hooking up to my laptop to transfer them manually, but I've had Play Music and all access for months and it just did this after updating the app. They're not stored on the N10 but they are on the cloud.

I'm not fond of having to lug out a huge laptop, find a power outlet, hook up a USB cable and wait half an hour to copy 300-plus MP3s to a tablet and waste a few gigs of internal storage, either.

It might have something to do with me ticking every option in my Google sync options, although I don't recall music being listed...

Are you sure the files are actually on the device? It's quite possible that the files may have synced from your phone and show in the app

They're not stored on the device. They got synced and show up in the app. Although I thought that the user had to tell it to do that. I either inadvertently triggered it or the latest version makes it default.

if that's considered painful, you might be suffereing from #FirstWorldProblems

I just hate anything requiring me to set up a computer when I've grown accustomed to tablet life. That's one plus of Android. No more iTunes

Personally, I've never uploaded music from an Android device, only from a computer

Presumably it would only sync music if you sign up for all access ..?

I mostly listen to podcasts. I have maybe 5GB of them on my phone at any time and listen to then delete maybe 0.5GB a week. I'd hate to think of all that being uselessly (given I never stream in Play Music and don't have a tablet) sync'd to the cloud

In theory I have unlimited data on my phone but my ancient contract has (or had) a 1GB 'fair use' policy. My broadband also had a usage limit until last week.

I don't have any music in the cloud but play music does automatically read everything on my sd card. Using the updated version do you see music on your sd card? I read that version 5.1.1109 removes sd card support. I'm using versuon 5.1.1107 on my Note 3.

I only had songs that I got through the Play Music app itself on the cloud. These are the over 300 plus that I've had for a long time and stored on an SD card. I recently updated the app both on the phone and tablet. Then they showed up on the tablet as I was browsing my library. I'm using WiFi only so no concern over data.
