Help Play Store not connecting through proxy (firewall)

Hi,

The play store on my new Galaxy Note 10.1 does not accept the proxy settings I set in the wifi settings somehow, even though chrome works.

Is there a way to get the proxy to work with Play Store, without rooting?

I couldn't find a solution that works.

The problem is not the Note. Most lkely, it is the port that is needed for Play Store is blocked in the Firewall settings. The port you need to open is 5228 AFAIR.

Okay, I forgot to mention that all the firewalls in my campus are authentication-based: one needs a login id and password to get through the proxy server. I see no option in Android's wifi settings to input a login-id and password for the proxy server.

When you connect to WiFi you need to check the box below the password visible box.

You can't open that port, only network admins can.

Sorry, my mistake, there is no way to enter proxy credentials in there.

However, there is an app for that in the Play Store. It is costly and I do not remember its name.

Is that the case with the other app too?

Is there no way to use an authentication-based proxy without rooting?

No way to do it without root.

This is just sad. Rooting will void my warranty (I am in India), and at this point I just want to get things to work.

I also have a no-proxy connection where I have to enter my user id and password in the browser and then I can use any application -- which usually detects the presence of this connection. While this approach works on computers, it does not work for me on Android.

I use a connection with authentication through the browser and it works perfectly fine, no issue on my S3, Motorola Razr, Galaxy Tab 10.1
