Root Play Store Problem using Harmonia

dendiu

Newbie
I just started getting the quite common com.android.vending problem for Google Play Store. I'm running Harmonia. I've tried all of the typical proposed solutions (wiping the Play Store cache and data, reinstalling Play Store, etc.). Any other/new ideas, please? Thanks!

Not sure what the actual problem is, could you try explaining?

Yes. Sorry. The problem didn't used to happen, and I can't think of any major changes I made to set off the problem, but now, when I attempt to click on an app in the Google Play Store, Play Store closes and says something to the effect of, "com.android.vending has unexpectedly closed." I appreciate any help you can give me.

Harmonia's very outdated at this point, and it sounds like the Play Store is encountering a conflict between it's newer version and the version in Harmonia, or something was compressed weird in Harmonia. There are also some bugs still present in the older ROMs that were fixed in later ones (though I personally always keep a copy of Harmonia on hand). But first things first, did you happen to verify the MD5 sum?

I really appreciate your help. Verify the MD5 sum of what? The Harmonia ROM? I apologize. I'm fairly new to this. The only thing I know about verifying an MD5 sum is when I did as such when I installed ClockWorkMod. Please advise. Thanks!

I just tried the above with no success. Thanks for your help, though. Any other thoughts? Or should I just move to a new ROM?

Dirty flash harmonia, wipe cache and davlik, flash ROM, reboot. Or restore a nandroid backup, or advance restore /system from a harmonia backup.

There is an MD5 sum provided with any ROM or kernel you may flash. Verifying it tells you whether or not the .zip file corrupted in-transit (while downloading), or if the copy is exactly as it was built and released. If they do not match, problems can and likely will arise.

Also, I just had this weirdness happen to me randomly last night. I went to System Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Google Play Services -> Clear Data -> Go back -> Google Play Store -> Clear data -> Problem solved.

I just tried Artine's suggestion that he personally used. That didn't work. I haven't yet tried sneaky_1's second suggestion or miediev's suggestion. Will give them a shot in the near future and let you know how it goes. Thanks, again, everyone!

Well, I just flashed Sleipnir instead. Great ROM. Fixed all of my issues. Thanks for your work on the ROM, and thanks for your help with my Google Play Store problem.
