Help Play Videos

I was under the impression that Android phones could play Avi videos by default?

Is there a special folder to put the videos in to get them to show up in the default player(I don't like to install extra apps if I don't have to). I made a folder called videos on the root of the SD card, and when I go into the video player it says No videos found. Whats the deal?

Pretty sure you will need a different player. I use Rockplayer, in the market, free version works very well.

No native player for avi files. I tried rock for a while it works but the big red R on the screen us obnoxious. Moved over to V player beta. Its free and works well developed by good people working to give us programs at no cost. Not to mention that rock player is making money, $10 download from open source programming. Pretty scum bag if you ask me....

What formats does the native player support?

Wmv, 3gp and maybe mov, not sure.
