Play WAV files

I have a Motorola Droid running 2.2.2

I receive wav files as attachments and want to be able to listen to them. I downloaded PowerAmp, opened a WAV file and was given the choice of players to use, I chose PowerAmp and all was good.

That phone broke, I received a new phone and now I can't get it to work again. I am never given the opportunity to choose my player. It goes straight to the default player which can't play the WAV file.

I've read countless threads on this but I'm wondering if this is a new issue based on the latest version of the OS, etc. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

I see 2 options:

1) First save the attachments on a folder you like, and later open them with PowerAMP.
2) Go to Settings - Applications, and clear the defaults for the application that doesn't give you the option to choose (Music, Email, Gmail, Messaging, File Explorer, ...).

1. I'm not given any options. So I can't save the file. I only have a Preview button which opens the default music player.

2. The defaults button for Gmail is grayed out so there's nothing to clear.
