Playing with my new Wildfire

Okay so I've only had it a couple of hours but already it looks to be a great little handset, don't see anything wrong with the screen at all, people on other forums moan about the resolution but it looks great to me.

I'm on software version 2.1-update1 is this the most up to date? If not and I have to do an update does it wipe any data or does it not toch that side of things?

Also do I have to have a Gmail email account to be able to download apps?

Thanks for any replies.

2.1 is the most upto date 2.2 will arrive sometime between end of September and January, and yes you do need a G Mail account.

I've got the wildfire and i agree it is a brilliant little phone, chose it cause it smaller than the desire, and cheaper (

I got one a few days ago, and am totally smitten. Being that bit smaller is a surprising plus. Also I think the touch sensitive home buttons are better than tactile buttons because you can quickly whip your thumb down to press them.
