Help Playlists Disappeared

I have a Samsung Charge. I recently did an update and noticed that my Playlists on Media Player are gone. In fact, all but 2 files in Media Player have disappeared. I found all the missing files on my sd external card, but I cannot figure out how to get them back into Media Player and make a new playlist. I tried copying and pasting which did not work. I also tried playing them to see if they showed up in Media Player. Still no luck. I even restarted the phone. Any other suggestions would be apreciated. Thanks.

Well, I have tinkered around with trying to find where the play lists are stored and can not find a thing. I have a folder on the SD card that says Playlists but it is empty. So I created a new play list and went back into that folder on the SD card and it is still empty. Conclusion is that the play lists are stored on internal memory in a db file someplace.

I just went into Settings Applications All and found the Music Player and wanted to see if I could clear data and cash, but mine are empty, or say 0 and are disabled. Check yours and see if clearing the cash will help. I do not know if clearing data would wipe your music, so I will not recommend that.

I have the same thing. I want to find out where the playlists are so I can move them to the SD card and then do a factory reset because of other small bugs my phone is going through. I have no idea where the playlists are stored though. When I check the music player in settings, when its not in use, it shows up as 0B with 0B storage, 0B data, and 0B cache. This does not change, even when running. The only thing I can do is force stop it.

I found a better way!! That means Free way. JS Backup
https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.co.johospace.backup&feature=search_result
This app has many features and you can back up whatever you want to your SD card or to the cloud.

I tested the Playlist back up, only thing I checked to be done. I created a playlist in the Player "Test this list" ran the app and backed up the play list, then I went into the player and deleted the Play list. Went back to the app and ran the Restore function.

The play list was back.

It is not easy figuring out the restore function, there is a button "History(Restore)" touch it. On next page a under Starting Date and time, just touch anywhere, Next page touch the recovery button, an that is it.

If I had data coverage right now, I would try it out, but I'll have to wait till I get home (another bug I'm going to post about but I think this is a Verizon Network issue). Two questions (well 2.5 questions). Do you need to be rooted? Will this JS backup
do everything? Can I backup all my apps and data, playlists, ect... and then run a factory reset and then restore? Follow up: If I'm doing a factory reset because my phone is acting goofy, is backing up EVERYTHING a wise move as the issue might be with some of the stuff I'm backing up?

You do not need to be rooted to use JS Backup.
Here is the blurb from the Market, to look over till you get home.

Frankly, I would not use it to back stuff that is already on the SD card, like music, pictures, videos. Were I in your situation I would back up the play lists and my text messages, if you want to keep them, and then follow these instructions to do the Factory Reset:

Text messages
Post 3

If you follow the instructions above all you contacts apps and data, etc will be backed up to Google and re-installed after you are reset to stock. Then you can use JS back up to restore your texts and play lists.

Good luck
