I lost my phone ..

I am thinking of buying a Note 3 in a few days ..

however I am curious to ask of your advice:

I see it is 2x in price over something mid range machines - like Galaxy Grand 2 - which has good capabilities and great 320 ppi ..

I am curious what does the cutting edge of Note 3 gets the user that something like Grand 2 will not?

ability to open more browser tabs? more applications at once? everything opens faster?
or why would one want to pay 2x?

or in other words is Note 3 more powerful then need be for most for today's software? since 95% of users are still on slow devices ..

would I be over paying? I want to get best value ..

is it better to maybe get something like Grand 2 now and in a year or 1.5 an upgrade? (cause I'm also backpacking / traveling now and things can happen :/)

but I am a past software engineer and am quiet a power user ..

and I do tend to spend a ton of time with the mobile..

I really appreciate all your advice!

thank you!!

not sure what a grand 2 is. but what I see spec wise is approximately what a Galaxy S3 was.

which is 2 generations behind the s5 that just came out. the note 3 and the s5 are rather close together in spec wise. note I say close - not the same, the s5 clocks a bit faster but the processor and SOC are the same base device - same GPU - etc.

same pixel density screens with the note 3 being that touch bigger - honestly I can't see the pixels anyway I belive the PPI is over 420.

note 3 has 3gb of ram to use - more than any other phone currently on the market other than the vaporware 0neplus

so I would say the note 3 is still one of the highest spec devices on the market today since it still out clocks the HTC one M8. with only the S5 and the LG G3 besting it.

Honestly I'd take a hard look at a G3 in about 2 weeks after it's been out a while - but I bought the note 3 because I wanted the screen space and everything I read about QHD screens says they take more power. like I said before I can't see the pixels on the HD screen of the Note 3 - so going more than that isn't necesary for me.

OH and

note 3 has 32 gb on internal storage space to start with - most other phones are still 16gb

you have the only device with a stylus system and holder

did I mention the screen is smurf it all awesome for viewing movies, in your hand, while sitting in a hospital waiting room - it is.

I will say - compared to my other devices the sound is a touch weak - but that's a minor adjustment away

you're more than welcome - I had just gotten my phone and gone through a quick rundown of what I wanted to buy.

so the info was fresh
