Root Please Dont Crucify Me For Asking This I Have Done Many Searches and Need Help

Ok guys, this will be elementary for some of you, but i am a noob and a nervous one at that. I just rooted, and after i went into HBOOT per instructions to do the Nandroid backup. It kept getting stuck and "backing up datadata". So i did about an hour worth of searching and found a post on this forum where a guy downloaded RomManager (by clockwork) and flashed a backup there. So that is what i did, it now has 3 options that i can restore to in the app (even though i only flashed once) so i guess the backup worked? My question is: is this a good alternative to the Nandroid backup while in HBOOT? I want to make sure i did the root 100% correct. Sorry if these are all dumb questions to some, but iam kinda jonezing on this....Thanks for any help/advice offered.

Backing up using Rom Manager is the same thing as doing a Nandroid in Clockwork, just a different interface. You can also boot to recovery using Rom Manager and then Nandroid using Clockwork to skip the need for hboot.

Be patient when doing backups. Sometimes the datadata part seems to take forever but it's actually still working. Not saying you couldn't have had a legitimate freezeup, just that it can take awhile.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm going through the same thing, where it seems that the nandroid backup through hboot using clockwork mod recovery v2.5.1.2 is stuck at "backing up datadata" How long should i wait till it's decidedly frozen? and I'm assuming doing a batt pull is the only way to stop this process, please correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah today I was doing one and it seemed to take 20-30 minutes. At first I thought it was frozen too, but then I just had a feeling "maybe let it go a little longer" and it ended up going :P
