Root Please help - bit of detective work needed

Grrrr Ti Backup keeps reporting it can't acquire root priveleges

Miui ROMs, like all custom ROMs, will be pre-rooted. Try the "problems" button in Ti.

Otherwise, can you start up the superuser app? The go into settings and check the "automaticl response" is set to "prompt" (it should be by default, but you never know).

OK at the bottom of the Ti page it states:

System ROM: 262MB (119Mb free)
Internal: 154MB (53.5 MB free)
SD Card: 14.8GB (14.7 GB free)

Then 3 white boxes with Ceck for Problems, Updates and Pro Version in it

The sd card settings box reports in a2sd+ that there is the same amount of space free after having installed GOSMS Pro (5.8mb), Swiftkey (3mb) and Google Maps 6.1mb

No fourth number, which sounds like the a2sd isn't working.

Try the terminal commands to activate it.

Ok ran the a2sd reinstall on terminal emulator as instructed in your post Hadron As for TI back up I uninstalled n reinstalled and it worked

Yay I now have fourth entry - SD Card (A2SD): 1 gb

according to Ti Backup

Will move over the Dalvik Cache now

Will i need to uninstall and reinstall my existing apps for them to shift into the a2sd partition?

No, the "a2sd reinstall" should do the moving.

Aha I think it did it automatically - clever - 140 mb free now on internal storage from 53.5mb free.

903Mb left on the a2sd card partition.

What do you recommend now? Eg backups etc ?

Run Ti and back up all user apps and data.

Then go into recovery and run a backup from there (i.e. a nandroid backup).

Then you can relax a bit
