Root Please help: can't get past LG screen

I just bought the Ally online with a broken LCD. I put in a new LCD and the new LCD works fine. Problem is, it boots up and won't go past the first screen, the white LG screen.

I tried to hook it up to a couple computers so I could find a bootloader to mess with, but the computers don't recognize it.

Any ideas how I can get it past the LG screen?

(Of course I tried a hard reset. It doesn't work, just boots into the same white screen.)

Thanks, that did help it get recognized by the PC, but it can't complete the process. It gets a fatal error. I don't think it is really communicating. Any way around that?

I've seen some things about the stock nandriod method, but I've never had nandroid set up on the phone. Is there a way I can use nandroid anyway?

(I have a memory card in it, but it wasn't used with the phone ever, so no file structure exists.)
