Help Please help.. format my micro sd card?

I almost hate to ask, but I've been at this all night. I want to transfer everything on my current SD micro card to a new one. But now when I put it in my laptop card reader it wants to format it.Will formatting lose everything? It never did this when I used it in the Blackberry. Also none of my pics show up when I USB the phone to the laptop. Krikey what am I doing wrong...

Don't format the card!! Your laptop might read it then-- but it will be empty!!!

Do other files show up when you connect by cable?
Can you display the pictures on the phone? If so, they have to be there.
You've opened every folder? Have you searched the card for *.jpg?

It's a little hard to troubleshoot at a distance without knowing more--what OS are you running on the laptop?

You mention wanting to transfer to another card- Do the phone and laptop both recognize that card?

Maeanwhile, if the object is to put pics that aren't backed up yet from the phone onto a bigger card, and the pics can be displayed and accessed on the phone, consider dropbox or any one of the photo sites to send copies too until more people wake up tomorrow and help you resolve this1
