Hi guys I really hope someone could shine some light onto my problem here. I bought the Nexus phone and was loving it until i realized that sometimes i don't get messages from my friend. She has an Iphone and sometimes we are having a conversation and some of her messages don't go through to me and sometimes they do. I called tech support they don't know what to do. Initially i thought it was the phone so I got a replacement and again same problem occurred so its not the phone. I was then told to take number 1 that could be in front of the persons phone # off because that may cause the problem. I did that but that didn't solve it either. I deleted the SMS pro app because that may be the reason however stock app doesnt get the messages either. The reason i know that is because i ask her to re-send the text and when she does i still don't get it. If anyone has an answer please help me out. Thank you for your time

Hello and welcome to AF. :)

does it happen with any other people or only your friend with the i*hone?

is this a GSM G Nex or Verizon?

Thank you for your jelp. As far as i know its only her. I have verizon she has at&t jailbrokenn iphone but im the only1 she has issues with too.

How is she sending the messages? If typical SMS it should be fine, if she is using iMessage they may work or may not...

Happens all the time with my sister and her iPhone...

OP - did you come from an iPhone? If so, there is a known issue with apple insisting on using iMessage to send text messages if you and her were both previously on iPhones. I haven't found a workaround other that to put my old iPhone into airplane mode and this seems to work for now.

Come to find out I had the same problem as the OP yesterday. It's possible that I've missed other text messages as well but I just found out about one yesterday. I came from an iPhone so I wonder if my missing text message actually went to my old iPhone. I sold it on Craigslist and removed my old SIM card so I don't see how it would still connect to me but you never know.

At least with my sister's iPhone it isn't an issue of her friend's old iPhone trying to receive the message, it is an issue with her phone insisting on using iMessage to send the message. I've never had an iPhone and her 4s occasionally insists on sending me messages using iMessage instead of SMS. I'm not sure how (or if) she resolved it, but she has to be getting frustrated, only her boyfriend and her have iPhones...

I'll ask her what she figured out tonight

I have the same problem on my LTE Galaxy Nexus. I don't get messages that come from a Samsung Fascinate over SMS.

Hmm... I've not had this (I've had long delays before though), can it be a Verizon issue? (if you Google "android not receiving texts" the first two pages of results- admittedly all that I read- are for various Verizon Android phones)

Does your number have a "+" in front of the 1-area code-number-number , as per:
http://androidforums.com/fascinate-...ople-not-receiving-my-sent-text-messages.html
?

Follow-up:
Apparently it still happens to my sister, but she now goes out of her way to text instead of iMessage. She had originally tried to iMessage me back when she first got her phone, and so it keeps trying to resume that thread/conversation when she would message me, instead of SMS. She deleted that first convo, and now she says sometimes it does SMS and sometimes not (so not really fixed...)

I had this exact problem with my Razr. There were many texts I wasn't getting and I was extremely frustrated. I'm wondering if its just a Verizon issue?

In those Verizon Android posts/threads that a search returns, there seems to be one of two answers:1. Verizon doesn't have your account provisioned correctly, or 2. The manufacturer needs to make/push a software update to resolve the issue.
Since resolution #2 means you are at Google/Samsung's mercy, I would make sure it is brought to their attention (Bug tracker), and in the meantime just stop into a Verizon store and make sure everything is alright with your account setup.

Verified iMessage bug reported to Apple (they still have no answer):

turning off iMessage is apparently the only fix...

There are instance of iMessage not working from iPhone to iPhone and iPhone to iPad. Seems the devices somehow throw the message in limbo between data and text then the other device isn't set up correctly. Obviously, this includes phones outside of iPhone.

The number is entered as (area)-num-bers

Some messages go through, others dont.

Odd... It just seems weird that it is intermittent like that...
there does seem to be quite a lot of threads to this effect for users on Verizon, maybe check to make sure your plan is provisioned correctly... And if it is then I guess notify Google/Samsung of the issue (Bug Tracker) and wait for the resolving update to get pushed out/released...

It's really bad now. About 50% of messages between us are lost. I have a friend on AT&T who I get no messages at all from, as we just discovered. I am going to go to the Verizon Store, and see what they can do.

That exact problem is happening to me. Did anyone found a solution? I used to have a 3G phone, and everything was normal, now with the galaxy nexus, several messages are not being received by the other person or me. not only sms but pictures and stuff. Could it be the 4G thing?

Firstly either call or go to Verizon and make sure everything is provisioned correctly with your account & your LTE device. There doesn't appear to be an official solution yet, but searches do indicate most of the occurrences are Verizon-specific. It's not an Android problem (or else it would be in all devices) so likely not fixable with an app or ROM unfortunately.

I had this same issue. My wife has an iPhone and I was moving from the iPhone to the GN. I was not receiving any of her texts for a few days and when I checked my iPhone all her text mesages were showing up on the iPhone but not my GN. I noticed that my iPhone was still connected to wifi so I just turned off iMessage on my iPhone and that fixed my issue.
