Help Please HELP!!! How do I back up my Captivate?

Hello Friends. :o

Can someone please help a noob back up my phone or at least just back up my contacts. I have searched and googled and have found many threads and sites giving advice but again I a total noob and I really dont understand anything i have read.

I have downloaded and installed all the proper drivers on my computer. I have Kies Mini but when I plug in my phone it wants to do an update. I want to back up everything before the update. I also have installed on my computer Samsung PC Studio 7.0 but it doesnt recognize my phone.

My phone is rooted with one click root.
My computer is running windows XP pro SP3 if that matters.

Thank you in advance for all help and advice.

after you run the backup, reconnect to your computer via USB and grab the entire folder called "TitaniumBackup" and copy to your desktop HD in a location of your choosing.

ok so please tell me if i am doing this correctly.

i make sure USB Debugging is checked
i go to titanium back
click the Backup/Restor tab

then i am a bit confused where to go next.

i assume the following...
hit the menu key
click more
then click "Create "update zip"
the "user application" is green by default
and "update zip" is green by default
then hit "create update.zip"

is that correct?

No, I don't think so. That's really for managing recovery of the backup program itself.

I usually backup using the batch option - go for user apps + system data.

ok got the phone backed up with Titanium back up.

now...

how can i get my contacts from my phone to my computer in a way that i can read them? or is there a way to import them into outlook? i have office 2007 if that makes a difference.

thank you all again for your help. its really appreciated.
