Okay so the deal is when i connnect my captivate to the computer you here the connected noise on my computer but there is no recognition on my phone that its connected to a computer but it seems to be charging so what is wrong? how do i fix this?

In the notification bar, make sure it's not in 'charge only' mode.

There is nothing in the top bar that says charge only

pull down the notification bar and you should have an option for USB Connection.
This option appears after you conect your phone to the computer.
