Root Please help me before I mess something up!

So I've had my Incredible 2 since May, and got it rooted sometime I'd say in July/August, and have had pretty much no problems. Randomly it would throw itself into a boot loop but it would eventually sort itself out and things would be fine again.

Today is a different story. It boot looped all day while I was at work, then I got home and so I tried to start moving applications to my SD card figuring I had taken up too much space on the phone... but I got nowhere. Finally I took the battery out and just left it for like 5 minutes. I hit power and it booted to a white HBOOT screen with three androids on it. I have no idea how to proceed without bricking my phone, so I googled it. I came across a thread that said just hit power again and it will continue on it's merry little way and be fine, so I did that.

Now I'm at the black screen that says "ClockworkMod Recovery" Does that mean that all my data is gone, or is there a way that I can just go back to what I had? I would prefer not to start over from scratch if at all possible at this point. Where do I go from here? I tried searching the forums but I'm so lost and I don't want to become the new owner of a $200 brick.

To be honest, I didn't even root my phone or install any ROMs myself, I had someone do it for me because I don't even know where to begin. I'm know a little bit about technology, but this is definitely not my area... so please help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Hi, my name is Chelley by the way. =)

If you are still in recovery scroll down with your volume buttons to "restore" and press your power button to select. Hopefully whoever rooted your phone made a backup of your stock ROM and you can just revert to that.
Otherwise I would suggest selecting "wipe data" and "wipe cache" to put yourself back to as close as you can get to a factory reset.
It sounds to me like you need to "start from scratch"

Thank you so much! I managed to get back in to the phone and start removing my widgets (I didn't think a clock widget would be that bad...) and some apps. It seems to have fixed something. I don't know if I used up too much space, or memory, but at least I have a working phone. =)

Now is probably a good time to learn a bit more about rooting. I've just been too scared to touch anything. Now if I was going to put a new ROM on my phone, is there a way I can do that without losing all my data from contacts, apps, etc?

you can use an app called "titanium backup" to back up apps and app data(NOT system data). get the pro key,its well worth the $$

all your contacts and calander info should be synced with google.

there are apps you can use to back up text messages and call logs,if you really desire to keep such things ;)
